This is my first Pinterest attempt, and so far I am CRUSHING it (for a novice at least!)

I started this account in January… and I did just start!… no courses or any idea what I was doing.

I’m going to take you through some of my missteps and victories.

My Initial “Mistake”

Unfortunately, not all niches are ideal for Pinterest, I wish my main HCU hit sign was Pinterest viable, but sadly it isn’t.

So I did some research and found a niche that appeared to be popular on Pinterest.

Then jumped in!

My account started growing and I was pretty excited.

But as the site gained more impressions, something became glaringly obvious.

My impressions were good but the CTR was HORRIBLE.

The issue?

I had chosen an image-based niche…

Think about it..

My niche is similar to the Interior Design Niche…

I was just uploading the images, and then trying to sneak in a CTA at the bottom or top of the image.

Adding the CTA did help, but only slightly… my CTR remained around 0.7%.

With these type of pins, users just like to look at the image, save it and move on.

Shifting Strategy

Then I found a pin type that changed the game!

The collage pin!

Why was this a big deal?

Well I was at around 150 blog posts on my site that each had 20-30 images.

I already had the images so this shouldn’t be too hard!?

As you can see, collage pins have the promise of being exactly what the user is looking for…

Not only will they save the pin (good for algo!) but they will click through to your site!

Easy right???….

Well…..

At this stage i’m at 2.5 million impressions on my account and I’m desperate to start converting some of the foot traffic to my site.

I’m already struggling to hit 20 pins per day and I was getting impatient.

Then something fortunate happen!

The issue that I was having was that these types of pins were time-consuming to produce.

The game changer

When I was posting on X someone commented on my post, and I took a quick peek at their profile and then hit the site listed in their bio.

​This guy had made a tool that fully automated my whole Pinterest!

I was still a little skeptical, but it had a 14-day refund policy, so i thought.. what the hell!

Basically this tool scrapes your site and images.

And then creates as many pins as you want per day.

Within minutes I had 100 collage pins, with AI titles and descriptions automatically generated.

I knew straight away I was going to start CRUSHING!

I hit the guy up on X.

A word of warning…..

I have dialed back the 100 pins per day – this may be overkill and could trip the Pinterest spam alert.

If you are pinning more than 50 pins per day – You may run a risk

There is still open debate on “how many pins should I do a day”

Epic!

Imagine how many more months of manually pinning this would have taken!

This speed rocketed my site to Mediavine Journey!

If you find yourself falling into the trap like myself with your niche selection, you can still crush it.

These niches are less competitive as they don’t drive the clicks, but now they can with a solid automated pinning schedule and collage-style pins!
